## What We Do

Trailwood Labs is an independent web design studio in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. We build websites for two kinds of clients:

1. **Service businesses** (roofers, plumbers, bail bondsmen, security firms, contractors, field-service operators). We build hand-coded Astro sites engineered to be cited by ChatGPT, Google's AI Overview, Perplexity, and Gemini when prospects in their service area ask AI systems about their category.

2. **Direct-to-consumer ecommerce brands.** We build custom Shopify themes with sub-1-second Time to First Byte, zero app-stack bloat, and structured data engineered to rank in AI shopping results.

## Why We Exist

Local search is being replaced by AI search. When someone in DFW asks ChatGPT "who handles assault bail bonds in Dallas," the answer is becoming the entire search experience. The "ten blue links" era is ending. Sites built for it (WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, SPA frameworks, AI-builder defaults) are systematically invisible to the engines that now do the answering.

Trailwood Labs builds the alternative: hand-coded Astro sites with full JSON-LD schema, llms.txt site indexing, sub-2-second Largest Contentful Paint, and content engineered for AI retrieval. We don't ship work we wouldn't pay for ourselves.

## How We Work

- **Managed service.** Three monthly tiers (Foundation, Growth, Dominate). One-time setup fee. No minimum contract. Cancel anytime.
- **Hand-coded, not templated.** Every site is built from scratch in Astro. Templates leave a fingerprint AI engines learn to discount. Custom code does not.
- **Practice what we preach.** Our own site is built with the same AI-readable architecture and the same Core Web Vitals we guarantee clients. If you can find a DFW agency selling AEO whose own site is actually citation-ready, we'll be impressed.
- **Citation-focused, not ranking-promised.** AI citation takes 3–6 months and depends on factors outside our control. We frame work around visibility, not promises of "#1."

Headquartered in Grand Prairie, Texas. Primary launch market: DFW (Mansfield, Grand Prairie, Arlington, Burleson, Midlothian, Cedar Hill, Fort Worth, Dallas, and 38+ surrounding cities). Remote delivery to clients anywhere in the United States. No travel required for discovery, builds, or ongoing content work.
